Staying at Occidental Ibiza? Our Local Guide to Port des Torrent, Beaches, Restaurants & Massage

Planning a stay at Occidental Ibiza? Discover our favourite local beaches, snorkelling spots, restaurants, sunset views and insider tips, plus how to book a professional massage and beauty treatment without leaving the hotel.

Choosing where to stay in Ibiza can make a huge difference to your holiday.

If you've booked Occidental Ibiza, you've chosen a hotel that's perfectly positioned to explore some of the island's most beautiful beaches, enjoy relaxed evenings around San Antonio Bay and discover a quieter side of Ibiza that many visitors never experience.

We've been providing massage and beauty treatments at Occidental Ibiza for many seasons, which means we've come to know both the hotel and the surrounding area extremely well. The recommendations in this guide are the same ones we'd give to friends and family visiting Ibiza for the first time.

One of the reasons we enjoy working here is the hotel's location. Within minutes you can walk to Port des Torrent beach, discover beautiful coastal walks, visit some of Ibiza's best west coast beaches or catch the water taxi across San Antonio Bay. It makes an excellent base for exploring this side of the island while still having everything you need close by.

Whether you're planning your holiday or you've already arrived, here's how we'd make the most of a stay at Occidental Ibiza.

These are the same recommendations we share with guests throughout the season, from hidden local favourites to the easiest ways to make the most of your time on Ibiza's beautiful west coast.

Why Occidental Ibiza Is Such a Great Base for Exploring Ibiza

One of the reasons we enjoy working at Occidental Ibiza is its fantastic location.

Within just a few minutes you can walk to Port des Torrent beach, catch the water taxi into San Antonio, visit some of Ibiza's most beautiful west coast beaches or head inland to the traditional village of Sant Josep.

Whether you're planning relaxing beach days, family adventures or evenings watching the sunset, everything is within easy reach.

It's one of the reasons so many guests choose this part of the island, and why we enjoy recommending it to visitors looking to experience more than just their hotel.

Discover More Than Just the Main Pool

Like many guests, you'll probably spend your first afternoon around the main swimming pool.

But here's one of our insider tips.

Occidental Ibiza actually has a second pool that many first-time visitors don't properly discover until halfway through their holiday.

Walk a little further through the resort and you'll also find the snack bar and volleyball court.

If you're travelling with children it's well worth exploring this part of the hotel early in your stay, and even couples often appreciate wandering around the whole resort before choosing their favourite place to relax.

Walk to Port des Torrent Beach

One of the biggest advantages of staying at Occidental Ibiza is that you're only a short walk from Port des Torrent.

Unlike some of Ibiza's busier beaches, Port des Torrent has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere with calm, sheltered water that's ideal for families and anyone looking for an easy swim.

It's only a few minutes from the hotel, making it perfect if you fancy a change of scenery without spending the whole day travelling.

Many guests spend the morning by the hotel pool before wandering down to the beach later in the afternoon.

Explore the Rocks and Go Snorkelling

Most visitors stop when they reach the sand.

We'd encourage you to keep walking.

Head towards the rocks on the left-hand side of Port des Torrent beach and you'll discover one of our favourite spots in the area.

The rocky coastline is lovely to explore on foot, with beautiful views across San Antonio Bay.

If you're confident in the water there are several places where people enjoy jumping into the sea, while the crystal-clear water around the rocks makes this one of the best local spots for snorkelling.

A full-face snorkel is particularly good here, making it easy to spend longer exploring the rocky shoreline.

You'll often see shoals of fish swimming around the rocks and, if you're lucky, you might even spot an octopus hiding beneath them.

For guests who enjoy swimming for fitness, there's also a marked swimming channel across the bay in this area, making it easy to enjoy some open-water exercise while you're on holiday.

It's one of those simple experiences that costs nothing but creates lasting memories.

Visit Es Cucó Like a Local

Here's one of those places that many visitors drive straight past without realising what they're missing.

Leave the hotel, turn left and walk up the hill.

On your right you'll find Supermercado Es Cucó.

It's far more than just a supermarket.

Forgotten sun cream?

Need drinks for the room?

Fancy some fresh fruit or snacks?

It's a great place to stock up.

But there's another reason locals love it.

The freshly cooked rotisserie chicken and chips have become something of a local favourite and make an excellent takeaway lunch if you fancy a relaxed meal back at the hotel or on the beach.

Simple.

Authentic.

Excellent value.

Take the Water Taxi into San Antonio

One of our favourite ways to visit San Antonio isn't by bus or taxi.

It's by boat.

From Port des Torrent beach you can catch the local water taxi across San Antonio Bay.

The journey itself is part of the experience.

You'll enjoy fantastic views back towards the coastline before arriving directly at San Antonio Marina.

From there you can explore the promenade, browse the shops or simply enjoy watching the boats coming and going.

It's a relaxing afternoon that feels very different from travelling by road.

Start Your Morning at Rita's Canteen

If you've taken the water taxi into San Antonio, we'd highly recommend stopping at Rita's Canteen.

It's one of the area's best-known breakfast and coffee spots, overlooking the marina.

Fresh juices.

Excellent coffee.

Great breakfasts.

A relaxed atmosphere.

Sometimes it's the simplest recommendations that become holiday favourites.

Discover Ibiza's Famous West Coast Beaches

One of the biggest reasons people choose Occidental Ibiza is its location.

Within a short drive you'll find some of Ibiza's most spectacular beaches.

Our favourites include:

• Cala Bassa

• Cala Conta

Both are famous for crystal-clear turquoise water, fantastic swimming and unforgettable sunsets.

If you're hiring a car, we'd recommend arriving early during July and August, as parking becomes much busier later in the day.

Visit the Traditional Village of Sant Josep

If you'd like to see a more traditional side of Ibiza, we'd recommend taking a short drive inland to Sant Josep de sa Talaia.

With its whitewashed church, relaxed cafés and small independent shops, it's a lovely place to spend a few hours away from the coast.

Stop for a coffee in the village square, wander through the streets and enjoy the slower pace before heading back towards the beach.

It's also a great option if you'd like a break from the sun for a few hours.

Enjoy a Sunset Cocktail Over San Antonio Bay

Ibiza's sunsets are famous for a reason.

If you're looking for somewhere to enjoy a pre-dinner drink with beautiful views, we'd recommend heading to the Rooftop Nine, rooftop bar in San Antonio Bay.

From here you'll enjoy panoramic views across San Antonio Bay as the sun begins to set.

It's a relaxed alternative to some of Ibiza's busier sunset venues and a lovely place to finish the day before heading out for dinner.

The Best Holiday Hack We Know

After welcoming guests to Occidental Ibiza for many seasons, we've noticed something interesting.

Most people don't actually start relaxing until the third day of their holiday.

Think about it.

You've finished work.

Packed your suitcase.

Travelled to the airport.

Waited for your flight.

Collected your luggage.

Checked in.

Unpacked.

By the time you finally sit beside the pool, your body is often still carrying the tension of everyday life.

Our advice?

Don't wait.

Book a massage for your arrival day or your first full day in Ibiza.

An hour of uninterrupted relaxation right at the beginning of your holiday helps release travel tension, settles you into holiday mode and often makes the rest of your stay feel even longer.

It's one of the best holiday decisions our returning guests make.

What if the Weather Changes?

Although Ibiza enjoys sunshine for most of the year, occasional cloudy days do happen.

Rather than spending the day in your room, we'd suggest making the most of it.

Some of our favourite ideas include:

  • Visiting Sant Josep.

  • Taking the water taxi into San Antonio.

  • Enjoying breakfast or coffee at Rita's Canteen.

  • Browsing the local shops.

  • Treating yourself to a manicure or deluxe pedicure.

  • Booking a relaxing massage before dinner.

Sometimes those slower days become the most memorable part of the holiday.

Enjoy a Massage Without Leaving Occidental Ibiza

One of Occidental Ibiza's hidden gems is that you can enjoy a professional massage or beauty treatment without ever leaving the hotel.

Our dedicated treatment cabana is located beside the main swimming pool beneath a shaded pergola, making it easy to enjoy a relaxing treatment without leaving the hotel.

Whether you've spent the morning exploring Ibiza, relaxing beside the pool or returning from a day at Cala Bassa or Cala Conta, it's the perfect opportunity to slow down and recharge.

Massage Beach Ibiza has been providing treatments at Occidental Ibiza for many seasons and is proud to be the number one rated Spa & Wellness activity in Playa d'en Bossa on TripAdvisor, with thousands of happy guests enjoying treatments across the island every year.

We welcome adults and children, making it easy for the whole family to enjoy a little extra relaxation during their holiday.

Staying at Hotel Mongibello Ibiza? Our Local Guide to Santa Eulària, Beaches, Restaurants & Massage

Planning a stay at Hotel Mongibello Ibiza? Discover our favourite beaches, restaurants, coastal walks, sunrise spots and local experiences, plus learn how to book a professional massage directly at the hotel.

Hotel Mongibello Ibiza is one of Santa Eulària's most distinctive five-star hotels. Inspired by the glamour of the Italian Riviera and the spirit of La Dolce Vita, it combines elegant design with a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere overlooking the beautiful cove of Es Caló de s'Alga.

Unlike many hotel guides written by travel websites that have never visited the area, this guide comes from our team at Massage Beach Ibiza. We work at Hotel Mongibello throughout the season, so these are the same recommendations we give guests every week.

Whether you're planning your holiday or have already checked in, we'll help you discover some of our favourite beaches, walks, restaurants and local experiences—along with a few insider tips that many visitors never find.

Why Stay at Hotel Mongibello Ibiza?

Every part of Ibiza has its own personality.

San Antonio is famous for sunsets and nightlife.

Playa d'en Bossa is energetic and lively.

Santa Eulària offers something completely different.

If you're looking for excellent restaurants, beautiful coastal walks, boutique shopping, a picturesque marina and a slower pace of life, it's one of the island's most enjoyable places to stay.

Hotel Mongibello perfectly reflects that atmosphere.

Inspired by the elegance of Italy's Riviera during the 1960s, the hotel feels sophisticated without being formal. Guests come here to enjoy long breakfasts, afternoons by the pool, leisurely walks into town and evenings spent discovering some of Ibiza's finest restaurants.

Some visitors head out to Ibiza's famous clubs before returning somewhere peaceful to recharge. Others never leave Santa Eulària at all.

That's the beauty of staying here—you can enjoy Ibiza however you choose.

Walk into Santa Eulària, It's Closer Than You Think

One of the biggest surprises for many guests is just how easy it is to walk into Santa Eulària.

From Hotel Mongibello it's only around 10–15 minutes on foot.

Cross the historic bridge over the river before following the marina and palm-lined promenade into the centre of town.

It's one of our favourite evening walks.

Street musicians often perform along the promenade during summer, cafés begin filling with people enjoying a drink before dinner, and the marina becomes one of the nicest places on the island to simply sit and watch the world go by.

Unlike some of Ibiza's busier resorts, Santa Eulària never feels rushed.

It's somewhere to wander without a plan.

Visit Puig de Missa

If there's one place we'd encourage every first-time visitor to explore, it's Puig de Missa.

Standing high above Santa Eulària, this beautiful whitewashed church has overlooked the town for centuries and offers some of the best panoramic views on the east coast of Ibiza.

The walk uphill takes around twenty minutes from the marina and is well worth the effort.

Inside the grounds you'll also find a small museum that provides an insight into the area's history, making it an excellent choice if the weather isn't perfect or you fancy a break from the beach.

It's one of those places that many visitors miss—but almost everyone who goes says they're glad they made the effort.

Our Favourite Sunrise Spot

Ibiza's west coast is famous for sunsets.

The east coast quietly keeps one of the island's best sunrises.

One of our favourite ways to start the day is to walk from the hotel towards Punta des Nedadors just before sunrise.

Within a few minutes you'll leave the hotel behind and find yourself following a peaceful coastal path through pine trees overlooking the Mediterranean.

As the sun rises directly out of the sea, the coastline glows with warm colours and the only sounds are waves breaking gently below and the occasional fishing boat leaving the harbour.

Most tourists are still asleep.

That's exactly why we love it.

One of Our Favourite Coastal Walks

Even if you're not an early riser, don't miss the coastal path beyond Es Caló de s'Alga.

Rather than turning back towards the hotel, continue south along the unmade trail towards Punta des Nedadors.

The route follows the cliff edge through fragrant pine woodland, opening up to spectacular sea views around almost every corner.

Bring comfortable footwear, some water and your camera.

It's one of those walks that perfectly captures the quieter side of Ibiza.

Spend a Day at Cala Nova

If you're hiring a car during your holiday, Cala Nova is one of the beaches we recommend most often.

What makes it particularly special is that you can enjoy two completely different experiences in the same place.

Start with lunch at Can Colomaret, a wonderfully relaxed beach restaurant where fresh fish, simple Mediterranean cooking and barefoot dining create exactly the sort of atmosphere many people hope to find in Ibiza.

Later, wander along the beach to Aiyanna Ibiza.

With stylish surroundings, excellent cocktails and beautiful sea views, it's a fantastic place to spend a lazy afternoon before heading back towards Santa Eulària.

It makes for one of our favourite day trips on the island.

Escape to Can Muson

Only a short drive inland from Hotel Mongibello is Can Muson, an organic farm and café that feels like a completely different side of Ibiza.

Fresh juices, homemade cakes, seasonal breakfasts and locally grown produce are served beneath the shade of fruit trees, creating a wonderfully peaceful setting away from the coast.

If you've spent a few days by the pool or on the beach, it's a lovely place to slow the pace even further.

Families enjoy visiting the small farm animals, while couples often come simply for breakfast before exploring the surrounding countryside.

Where We Recommend Eating in Santa Eulària

Santa Eulària has quietly become one of Ibiza's best destinations for food lovers.

The pedestrian streets around Carrer de Sant Jaume and Carrer de Sant Vicent are packed with independent restaurants, making them perfect for an evening stroll before choosing somewhere for dinner.

For a special occasion, Es Terral is one of our favourite recommendations. Recognised by the Michelin Guide, it combines seasonal Mediterranean ingredients with French influences in an intimate setting that consistently impresses.

If you're celebrating something special, Maymanta, located on the rooftop of the nearby Aguas de Ibiza Grand Luxe Hotel, offers spectacular views alongside imaginative Peruvian cuisine.

Wherever you choose, booking in advance during summer is always worthwhile.

Explore Santa Eulària by Bike

One of the charming touches at Hotel Mongibello is its collection of stylish vintage-inspired bicycles, which perfectly complement the hotel's Italian Riviera theme.

Exploring Santa Eulària by bike is a wonderful way to discover the area at your own pace. The flat seafront promenade is ideal for a leisurely ride, whether you're heading into the marina for a coffee, browsing the boutiques or simply enjoying the Mediterranean views.

During the cooler months of May, June, September and October, cycling is also a fantastic way to explore the surrounding countryside and quieter coastal roads.

Speak to the hotel reception during your stay for the latest information on using the hotel's bicycles.

Take a Boat Trip to Formentera

If you have a full day free during your stay, we'd strongly recommend taking a boat trip to Formentera.

Known for its crystal-clear turquoise water and unspoilt beaches, the island offers a completely different pace of life. Ses Illetes is regularly ranked among the finest beaches in Europe, while the island itself feels wonderfully relaxed compared with mainland Ibiza.

Several operators run day trips from nearby ports, ranging from simple passenger ferries to luxury boat charters.

Ask the hotel reception for the latest sailing times and availability, especially during July and August when popular departures often sell out.

After a full day exploring Formentera, there's nothing better than returning to Santa Eulària for a relaxed dinner beside the marina.

What to Pack for Your Stay

Most visitors remember the obvious essentials, but there are a few things that can make your stay even more enjoyable.

We'd recommend bringing:

  • Comfortable walking shoes for the coastal paths and Puig de Missa.

  • A lightweight jumper or shirt for evenings by the marina (low season).

  • Reef-friendly sun cream if you're planning to swim around Es Caló de s'Alga.

  • A reusable water bottle for walks and beach days.

Hotel Mongibello provides everything you'd expect from a luxury five-star hotel, so these small extras simply help you make the most of the surrounding area.

Our Favourite Tip for Your First Day

After welcoming guests throughout the season, we've noticed something interesting.

Most people don't actually begin relaxing until two or three days into their holiday.

Think about it.

You've finished work.

Packed your suitcase.

Travelled to the airport.

Waited for your flight.

Collected luggage.

Found your transfer.

Checked in.

Unpacked.

By the time you finally reach the pool, your body is often still carrying the stress of everyday life.

Our advice?

Don't wait until the middle of your holiday to slow down.

Book your arrival-day massage online and start relaxing from the moment you arrive in Ibiza.

One hour of uninterrupted relaxation helps release travel tension, settles you into holiday mode and often makes the rest of your stay feel longer.

It's one of the best holiday decisions our returning guests make.

What if the Weather Changes?

Ibiza enjoys over 300 days of sunshine each year, but the occasional cloudy day does happen.

Rather than writing the day off, we'd suggest using it as an opportunity to experience another side of Santa Eulària.

Some of our favourite rainy-day ideas include:

  • Exploring the historic streets around Puig de Missa.

  • Visiting the small museum beside the church.

  • Browsing Santa Eulària's independent boutiques.

  • Enjoying a leisurely lunch in town.

  • Treating yourself to a manicure or pedicure.

  • Booking a relaxing massage before dinner.

Sometimes those slower days become the most memorable part of the holiday.

Enjoy a Massage Without Leaving Hotel Mongibello

One of the things many guests discover only after they arrive is that professional massage and beauty treatments are available right here at Hotel Mongibello.

Massage Beach Ibiza operates from a dedicated poolside treatment cabana, allowing you to enjoy your treatment in peaceful surroundings without leaving the hotel.

Whether you've spent the day exploring Ibiza, walking the coastline or simply relaxing beside the pool, it's an easy way to recharge without interrupting your holiday.
