Staying at Occidental Ibiza? Our Local Guide to Port des Torrent, Beaches, Restaurants & Massage
Planning a stay at Occidental Ibiza? Discover our favourite local beaches, snorkelling spots, restaurants, sunset views and insider tips, plus how to book a professional massage and beauty treatment without leaving the hotel.
Choosing where to stay in Ibiza can make a huge difference to your holiday.
If you've booked Occidental Ibiza, you've chosen a hotel that's perfectly positioned to explore some of the island's most beautiful beaches, enjoy relaxed evenings around San Antonio Bay and discover a quieter side of Ibiza that many visitors never experience.
We've been providing massage and beauty treatments at Occidental Ibiza for many seasons, which means we've come to know both the hotel and the surrounding area extremely well. The recommendations in this guide are the same ones we'd give to friends and family visiting Ibiza for the first time.
One of the reasons we enjoy working here is the hotel's location. Within minutes you can walk to Port des Torrent beach, discover beautiful coastal walks, visit some of Ibiza's best west coast beaches or catch the water taxi across San Antonio Bay. It makes an excellent base for exploring this side of the island while still having everything you need close by.
Whether you're planning your holiday or you've already arrived, here's how we'd make the most of a stay at Occidental Ibiza.
These are the same recommendations we share with guests throughout the season, from hidden local favourites to the easiest ways to make the most of your time on Ibiza's beautiful west coast.
Why Occidental Ibiza Is Such a Great Base for Exploring Ibiza
One of the reasons we enjoy working at Occidental Ibiza is its fantastic location.
Within just a few minutes you can walk to Port des Torrent beach, catch the water taxi into San Antonio, visit some of Ibiza's most beautiful west coast beaches or head inland to the traditional village of Sant Josep.
Whether you're planning relaxing beach days, family adventures or evenings watching the sunset, everything is within easy reach.
It's one of the reasons so many guests choose this part of the island, and why we enjoy recommending it to visitors looking to experience more than just their hotel.
Discover More Than Just the Main Pool
Like many guests, you'll probably spend your first afternoon around the main swimming pool.
But here's one of our insider tips.
Occidental Ibiza actually has a second pool that many first-time visitors don't properly discover until halfway through their holiday.
Walk a little further through the resort and you'll also find the snack bar and volleyball court.
If you're travelling with children it's well worth exploring this part of the hotel early in your stay, and even couples often appreciate wandering around the whole resort before choosing their favourite place to relax.
Walk to Port des Torrent Beach
One of the biggest advantages of staying at Occidental Ibiza is that you're only a short walk from Port des Torrent.
Unlike some of Ibiza's busier beaches, Port des Torrent has a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere with calm, sheltered water that's ideal for families and anyone looking for an easy swim.
It's only a few minutes from the hotel, making it perfect if you fancy a change of scenery without spending the whole day travelling.
Many guests spend the morning by the hotel pool before wandering down to the beach later in the afternoon.
Explore the Rocks and Go Snorkelling
Most visitors stop when they reach the sand.
We'd encourage you to keep walking.
Head towards the rocks on the left-hand side of Port des Torrent beach and you'll discover one of our favourite spots in the area.
The rocky coastline is lovely to explore on foot, with beautiful views across San Antonio Bay.
If you're confident in the water there are several places where people enjoy jumping into the sea, while the crystal-clear water around the rocks makes this one of the best local spots for snorkelling.
A full-face snorkel is particularly good here, making it easy to spend longer exploring the rocky shoreline.
You'll often see shoals of fish swimming around the rocks and, if you're lucky, you might even spot an octopus hiding beneath them.
For guests who enjoy swimming for fitness, there's also a marked swimming channel across the bay in this area, making it easy to enjoy some open-water exercise while you're on holiday.
It's one of those simple experiences that costs nothing but creates lasting memories.
Visit Es Cucó Like a Local
Here's one of those places that many visitors drive straight past without realising what they're missing.
Leave the hotel, turn left and walk up the hill.
On your right you'll find Supermercado Es Cucó.
It's far more than just a supermarket.
Forgotten sun cream?
Need drinks for the room?
Fancy some fresh fruit or snacks?
It's a great place to stock up.
But there's another reason locals love it.
The freshly cooked rotisserie chicken and chips have become something of a local favourite and make an excellent takeaway lunch if you fancy a relaxed meal back at the hotel or on the beach.
Simple.
Authentic.
Excellent value.
Take the Water Taxi into San Antonio
One of our favourite ways to visit San Antonio isn't by bus or taxi.
It's by boat.
From Port des Torrent beach you can catch the local water taxi across San Antonio Bay.
The journey itself is part of the experience.
You'll enjoy fantastic views back towards the coastline before arriving directly at San Antonio Marina.
From there you can explore the promenade, browse the shops or simply enjoy watching the boats coming and going.
It's a relaxing afternoon that feels very different from travelling by road.
Start Your Morning at Rita's Canteen
If you've taken the water taxi into San Antonio, we'd highly recommend stopping at Rita's Canteen.
It's one of the area's best-known breakfast and coffee spots, overlooking the marina.
Fresh juices.
Excellent coffee.
Great breakfasts.
A relaxed atmosphere.
Sometimes it's the simplest recommendations that become holiday favourites.
Discover Ibiza's Famous West Coast Beaches
One of the biggest reasons people choose Occidental Ibiza is its location.
Within a short drive you'll find some of Ibiza's most spectacular beaches.
Our favourites include:
• Cala Bassa
• Cala Conta
Both are famous for crystal-clear turquoise water, fantastic swimming and unforgettable sunsets.
If you're hiring a car, we'd recommend arriving early during July and August, as parking becomes much busier later in the day.
Visit the Traditional Village of Sant Josep
If you'd like to see a more traditional side of Ibiza, we'd recommend taking a short drive inland to Sant Josep de sa Talaia.
With its whitewashed church, relaxed cafés and small independent shops, it's a lovely place to spend a few hours away from the coast.
Stop for a coffee in the village square, wander through the streets and enjoy the slower pace before heading back towards the beach.
It's also a great option if you'd like a break from the sun for a few hours.
Enjoy a Sunset Cocktail Over San Antonio Bay
Ibiza's sunsets are famous for a reason.
If you're looking for somewhere to enjoy a pre-dinner drink with beautiful views, we'd recommend heading to the Rooftop Nine, rooftop bar in San Antonio Bay.
From here you'll enjoy panoramic views across San Antonio Bay as the sun begins to set.
It's a relaxed alternative to some of Ibiza's busier sunset venues and a lovely place to finish the day before heading out for dinner.
The Best Holiday Hack We Know
After welcoming guests to Occidental Ibiza for many seasons, we've noticed something interesting.
Most people don't actually start relaxing until the third day of their holiday.
Think about it.
You've finished work.
Packed your suitcase.
Travelled to the airport.
Waited for your flight.
Collected your luggage.
Checked in.
Unpacked.
By the time you finally sit beside the pool, your body is often still carrying the tension of everyday life.
Our advice?
Don't wait.
Book a massage for your arrival day or your first full day in Ibiza.
An hour of uninterrupted relaxation right at the beginning of your holiday helps release travel tension, settles you into holiday mode and often makes the rest of your stay feel even longer.
It's one of the best holiday decisions our returning guests make.
What if the Weather Changes?
Although Ibiza enjoys sunshine for most of the year, occasional cloudy days do happen.
Rather than spending the day in your room, we'd suggest making the most of it.
Some of our favourite ideas include:
Visiting Sant Josep.
Taking the water taxi into San Antonio.
Enjoying breakfast or coffee at Rita's Canteen.
Browsing the local shops.
Treating yourself to a manicure or deluxe pedicure.
Booking a relaxing massage before dinner.
Sometimes those slower days become the most memorable part of the holiday.
Enjoy a Massage Without Leaving Occidental Ibiza
One of Occidental Ibiza's hidden gems is that you can enjoy a professional massage or beauty treatment without ever leaving the hotel.
Our dedicated treatment cabana is located beside the main swimming pool beneath a shaded pergola, making it easy to enjoy a relaxing treatment without leaving the hotel.
Whether you've spent the morning exploring Ibiza, relaxing beside the pool or returning from a day at Cala Bassa or Cala Conta, it's the perfect opportunity to slow down and recharge.
Massage Beach Ibiza has been providing treatments at Occidental Ibiza for many seasons and is proud to be the number one rated Spa & Wellness activity in Playa d'en Bossa on TripAdvisor, with thousands of happy guests enjoying treatments across the island every year.
We welcome adults and children, making it easy for the whole family to enjoy a little extra relaxation during their holiday.

The Ultimate Guide to TUI BLUE Aura Ibiza: Local Tips from a Team That's Worked Here Since 2013
Staying at TUI BLUE Aura Ibiza? Discover our favourite local restaurants, hidden swimming spots, snorkelling locations, nearby beaches and insider tips from a team that's worked at the hotel since 2013.
Planning a stay at TUI BLUE Aura Ibiza?
You've picked one of the island's most popular family-friendly hotels, perfectly positioned in the peaceful bay of Port des Torrent, just a few minutes from San Antonio. With beautiful sea views, spacious pools, fantastic entertainment and a relaxed atmosphere, it's a hotel that many guests return to year after year.
At Massage Beach Ibiza, we've been part of TUI BLUE Aura since 2013, providing professional massage and beauty treatments for thousands of holidaymakers.
Over the years, we've chatted to guests from all over the world, shared local recommendations and watched families discover their favourite places around the hotel.
So instead of writing another generic travel guide, we thought we'd share the tips we'd genuinely give to friends and family if they were staying here for the first time.
Whether you're travelling as a couple, with friends or bringing the children, these are the little things that can help turn a great holiday into an unforgettable one.
1. Spend Your First Morning Exploring the Hotel
It might sound obvious, but one of the best things you can do after checking in is simply take a walk around the hotel before settling by the pool.
Discover where everything is.
Take in the sea views.
Find your favourite place to sit with a coffee.
Get your bearings before the holiday really begins.
Most guests head straight to the main pool, but TUI BLUE Aura has plenty of peaceful corners that are easy to miss if you don't spend a few minutes exploring first.
It's the perfect way to slow down and ease yourself into holiday mode.
2. Don't Miss the Second Pool
Here's one of our favourite insider tips.
Almost everyone discovers the main pool beside the entertainment stage within minutes of arriving.
What many guests don't realise is that there's another swimming pool tucked away on the opposite side of the hotel.
Walk around to the right-hand side of the stage and you'll find a quieter pool overlooking the sea.
It's often much more peaceful than the main pool and offers some lovely views across the bay.
If you're looking for somewhere to read a book, enjoy a quieter swim or simply escape the busiest part of the hotel for an hour, this is the place.
After working at TUI BLUE Aura since 2013, it's still one of our favourite spots in the hotel.
3. Walk to the Fishermen's Huts
Port des Torrent beach is beautiful, but many visitors never explore beyond the sand.
We'd definitely recommend taking a gentle walk across the beach and continuing around the rocky coastline.
You'll soon come across the traditional fishermen's huts that have been part of Ibiza's coastline for generations.
The views from here are fantastic.
It's also one of our favourite places for a quiet swim away from the busiest part of the beach.
The water is beautifully clear, the surroundings are peaceful and it's a lovely place to spend half an hour simply enjoying the scenery.
It's one of those places that doesn't appear in many guidebooks but is well worth discovering.
4. Pack a Snorkel – You'll Be Glad You Did
If there's one thing we'd recommend bringing with you before travelling to Ibiza, it's a snorkel.
Port des Torrent is one of our favourite places on the island for snorkelling, especially around the rocks near the fishermen's huts.
The water is usually wonderfully clear and there's plenty of marine life to discover.
You'll often see colourful fish swimming around the rocks and, if you're lucky, you might even spot an octopus hiding beneath them.
Full-face snorkels have become incredibly popular in recent years and they're a fantastic option for both adults and children who want to spend more time comfortably exploring beneath the surface.
It's a simple addition to your suitcase that can create some wonderful holiday memories.
5. Discover Some of Ibiza's Best Beaches
One of the biggest advantages of staying at TUI BLUE Aura is its location.
Some of Ibiza's most beautiful beaches are only a short drive away.
If you've hired a car, we'd highly recommend visiting:
Cala Bassa
Cala Conta
Cala Tarida
Each has its own character, from crystal-clear turquoise water and fantastic snorkelling to spectacular sunsets and relaxed beach restaurants.
If you're visiting during July or August, try to arrive early in the day, as parking can become busy during peak season.
Even if you only visit one of them during your holiday, you'll understand why Ibiza's west coast is famous throughout Europe.
6. Enjoy Fresh Fish at Can Pujol
If you're planning to eat outside the hotel one evening and enjoy fresh seafood, there's one restaurant we regularly recommend to guests.
Can Pujol has earned an excellent reputation for serving fresh fish in a relaxed waterfront setting and has long been a favourite with both locals and returning visitors.
It's the sort of place where the quality of the ingredients speaks for itself.
During the height of summer it's well worth booking a table in advance, particularly if you'd like to dine around sunset.
After more than a decade working in the area, it's still one of the restaurants we recommend most often.
7. Take the Ferry into San Antonio
If you'd like a change of scenery without the hassle of driving or finding somewhere to park, the local ferry is one of our favourite ways to visit San Antonio.
It's a relaxing journey along Ibiza's beautiful coastline and a great activity for both adults and children.
Once you arrive, you can browse the marina, enjoy an ice cream along the promenade, explore the shops or simply watch the boats coming and going before heading back to Port des Torrent.
It's a simple trip, but one that many guests tell us becomes one of their favourite afternoons of the holiday.
8. Remember You're on Holiday
One thing we've noticed after working at TUI BLUE Aura since 2013 is that many guests try to fit too much into their holiday.
Boat trips.
Markets.
Beach clubs.
Excursions.
Restaurants.
They're all wonderful experiences, but don't forget to leave time to simply relax.
Spend a morning by the pool.
Read another chapter of your book.
Enjoy a long lunch.
Take an afternoon nap.
Or simply sit and enjoy the incredible sea views.
Some of the best holiday memories aren't planned at all.
They're the quiet moments when you finally slow down.
9. Make Time for Yourself
When you're at home, life is busy.
Work, school runs, cooking, emails and endless jobs all compete for your attention.
Your holiday is your opportunity to press pause.
Many of our guests tell us they nearly didn't book a treatment because they felt they were too busy enjoying everything else Ibiza has to offer.
Almost every one of them says exactly the same thing afterwards:
"I wish I'd booked it earlier."
Since 2013, Massage Beach Ibiza has been providing professional massage and beauty treatments here at TUI BLUE Aura, helping thousands of guests relax during their stay.
Our dedicated treatment cabana is just a short stroll from the pool, making it easy to enjoy a treatment without leaving the hotel.
We offer treatments for adults and children, including professional massage, facials, manicures, gel nails and luxury pedicures.
Some of our most popular treatments include:

60-minute Relaxation Massage – €80
60-minute Deep Tissue Massage – €85

Because we operate at TUI BLUE Aura on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:20am until 6:20pm, appointments during the summer are limited.
