Staying at Palladium Hotel Cala Llonga? Our Local Guide to a Relaxing Ibiza Holiday

Planning a stay at Palladium Hotel Cala Llonga? Discover our favourite walks, beaches, restaurants, snorkelling spots and local insider tips, plus massage and beauty treatments available directly at the hotel.

Choosing where to stay in Ibiza can completely shape your holiday.

If you've booked Palladium Hotel Cala Llonga, you've chosen one of the island's most peaceful adults-only hotels. Tucked into the hillside overlooking Cala Llonga Bay, it's somewhere you can genuinely slow down, wake up to sea views and enjoy a quieter side of Ibiza without feeling isolated from everything the island has to offer.

At Massage Beach Ibiza, we've been welcoming guests at Palladium Hotel Cala Llonga for many seasons from our dedicated shaded poolside cabana. Spending so much time at the hotel means we've also come to know Cala Llonga itself. Over the years we've discovered the walks, restaurants, viewpoints and little local experiences that many visitors never find until their final day, and they're the same recommendations we regularly share with our guests.

This guide brings together the recommendations we genuinely share with guests throughout the season.

Whether you're researching the hotel before travelling or you're already enjoying your first coffee beside the pool, we hope it helps you make the most of your stay.

Why We Enjoy Working at Palladium Hotel Cala Llonga

Every hotel has its own personality.

Some are built around entertainment.

Others are designed for families.

Palladium Hotel Cala Llonga is different.

As an adults-only hotel, Palladium Hotel Cala Llonga offers a quieter atmosphere than many of Ibiza's larger family resorts.

One of its biggest strengths is the location.

Sitting above Cala Llonga Bay, the hotel gives you easy access to the beach while also being close to Santa Eulària, scenic coastal walks and some of the island's most beautiful eastern coastline.

If you're looking for a comfortable base from which to explore this part of Ibiza, spend time by the sea and enjoy the local area at your own pace, it's well placed for exactly that.

Explore More Than Just the Main Pool

Like most guests, you'll probably spend your first afternoon around the main swimming pool.

But don't stop there.

One of our favourite things about Palladium Hotel Cala Llonga is that the hotel continues down towards the sea.

Take a few minutes to wander through the lower levels beneath the main pool and you'll discover a series of peaceful terraces overlooking Cala Llonga Bay.

They're perfect if you fancy a quieter place to read a book, enjoy a coffee or simply sit listening to the waves.

Many guests spend their entire holiday around the pool without ever realising these terraces are there.

For us, they're one of the hotel's nicest features.

Walk the Cala Blanca Coastal Trail

If you're only going to do one walk during your stay, we'd recommend this one.

From Cala Llonga, you can follow the coastal path towards Cala Blanca, climbing gently through pine trees with increasingly spectacular views across the bay.

One of the highlights is the old Cala Blanca tunnel, created many years ago as part of an abandoned road project. Walking through it feels like discovering one of Ibiza's hidden corners before the path opens out towards dramatic coastal scenery that many visitors never see.

We've walked this route ourselves and it's one of our favourite walks on this side of the island. It's a reminder that Ibiza offers far more than beaches and beach clubs.

As with any coastal walk, wear suitable footwear, take water and pay attention to the terrain. Parts of the route are natural and uneven rather than maintained tourist paths, so a little care goes a long way.

Swim Straight from the Hotel

One of the things we love about Palladium Hotel Cala Llonga is that you don't have to head down to the beach if you'd rather avoid the crowds.

From the hotel's lower sea-view terraces, many guests simply step straight into the Mediterranean and enjoy a swim along the edge of the bay.

The water here is often beautifully clear, and if you follow the rocky coastline towards the mouth of the bay, it becomes an excellent place for snorkelling.

You'll often spot shoals of fish around the rocks and, if you're lucky, you may even see an octopus hiding beneath the ledges.

If you're feeling adventurous, continue exploring the coastline and you'll discover a small sea cave that's only accessible from the water. Because most visitors stay close to the sandy beach, surprisingly few people ever discover this part of the bay.

The beach itself is perfect for a relaxed swim, but if you're confident in open water, swimming directly from the hotel gives you a completely different perspective of Cala Llonga.

As always, only enter the sea when conditions are suitable, wear appropriate footwear if you're walking over rocks, and only explore further if you're a confident swimmer.

Start the Day at MOOS

Fancy a change from the hotel breakfast one morning?

If you're looking for somewhere relaxed serving excellent coffee and fresh food, we'd recommend MOOS, just a short walk from Cala Llonga beach and the hotel.

It's become one of our favourite recommendations for breakfast or lunch.

Expect freshly prepared breakfasts, smoothies, quality coffee, salads, sourdough sandwiches and lighter dishes that are perfect before spending the afternoon by the pool.

Sometimes it's nice to break your routine and experience somewhere a little different.

MOOS is exactly that sort of place.

Walk to Amante — Even If It's Just for a Drink

One restaurant that regularly appears in guides to Ibiza is Amante.

And for good reason.

Its cliffside location overlooking Sol d'en Serra is genuinely stunning.

If you're celebrating something special, it's an unforgettable place for dinner.

That said, we'd also offer one small piece of local advice.

It's expensive, so we'd recommend saving it for a special occasion rather than an everyday meal.

If you're planning dinner, book well in advance because it becomes extremely popular during the summer.

If dinner isn't within your budget, consider walking there for an early evening cocktail instead.

Explore Ibiza by Ferry

One of Cala Llonga's biggest advantages is that you don't always need to travel by road.

During the season, ferry services connect Cala Llonga with Santa Eulària, Ibiza Town and other parts of Ibiza's east coast.

It's a far more relaxing way to travel than sitting in traffic and gives you some wonderful views of the coastline along the way.

If you're planning a day exploring Santa Eulària, we'd definitely consider travelling by boat rather than by taxi.

It becomes part of the holiday rather than simply another journey.

Spend an Afternoon Exploring Santa Eulària

If you're staying at Palladium Hotel Cala Llonga for more than a few days, we'd definitely recommend spending some time in nearby Santa Eulària des Riu.

It's one of Ibiza's most attractive towns and has a completely different atmosphere from San Antonio or Ibiza Town.

Start with a stroll around the marina before wandering through the pedestrian streets filled with cafés, boutiques and independent shops.

One of our favourite areas is the restaurant quarter around Carrer de Sant Jaume and Carrer de Sant Vicent, where you'll find everything from relaxed tapas bars to fine dining.

If you enjoy history and great views, make the short walk up to Puig de Missa.

The whitewashed church has watched over Santa Eulària for centuries, and from the top you'll enjoy wonderful panoramic views across the coastline. There's also a small museum that's well worth visiting, especially if you happen to catch a cloudy morning.

It's an easy trip from Cala Llonga and a lovely change of pace without needing to drive across the island.

Take a Day Trip to Formentera

If you've never been to Formentera, this is your opportunity.

Many visitors assume they need to travel to Ibiza Town to catch a boat, but during the summer there are seasonal ferry services departing from Cala Llonga, making the journey much more convenient.

Formentera is famous for its crystal-clear water, white sandy beaches and relaxed atmosphere.

Hire a bicycle or scooter when you arrive, explore the coastline at your own pace and enjoy lunch overlooking the sea before returning to Ibiza later that afternoon.

We wouldn't publish ferry times here because they change throughout the season, but it's worth checking the current timetable while you're planning your holiday.

It's one of the best day trips you can make from Cala Llonga.

Explore More of Ibiza

One of the advantages of staying in Cala Llonga is that you're well positioned to explore both the east and west sides of Ibiza.

If you've hired a car, we'd recommend keeping your plans simple rather than trying to squeeze too much into one day.

Some of our favourite places include:

  • Cala Nova for a relaxed beach day.

  • Santa Eulària for shopping and excellent restaurants.

  • The west coast if you'd like to experience Ibiza's famous sunsets at places such as Cala Comte or Cala Bassa.

One thing we've learnt after meeting guests here season after season is that the best holidays rarely come from trying to do everything.

Choose one beautiful beach.

Enjoy one really good meal.

Take one memorable walk.

Leave time to simply relax.

Ibiza isn't a destination that needs rushing, and Cala Llonga is one of the best places on the island to slow down.

What If the Weather Changes?

Although Ibiza enjoys fantastic weather for most of the season, every now and then you'll wake up to clouds or the occasional shower.

Rather than writing the day off, we'd suggest making the most of it.

Some of our favourite ideas include:

  • Exploring Santa Eulària and Puig de Missa.

  • Taking a long lunch in one of the town's restaurants.

  • Visiting the shops around the marina.

  • Enjoying a facial or deluxe pedicure.

  • Booking a relaxing massage before heading out for dinner.

Sometimes the quieter days become the ones you remember most.

One Holiday Tip We Always Share

After meeting guests at Palladium Hotel Cala Llonga throughout the season, we've noticed something.

Most people don't actually relax until halfway through their holiday.

Think about everything that happens before you arrive.

Finishing work.

Packing.

Travelling to the airport.

Flying.

Transfers.

Checking in.

Unpacking.

Even though you're finally in Ibiza, your body often still feels like it's rushing.

That's why we'd recommend doing something different.

Instead of waiting until your final day to treat yourself, book a massage for your arrival day or your first full day.

It's one of the quickest ways to release travel tension and properly settle into holiday mode.

Many returning guests tell us it's the best decision they made all week.
